Location of the Balzac Formation Outcrop

Go north on the Queen Elizabeth II Highway from Calgary  Stoney Trail. Turn east on Highway 566.

Take Queen Elizabeth II Highway north from Calgary.  Turn east on Highway 566 at Balzac, then south on Cross Iron Boulevard, and then west on Bass Pro Way.  Park near the crosswalk that crosses Bass Pro Way between the shopping complex and the park on the west side.

Cross Bass Pro Way by crosswalk into the well-maintained Rocky View County park.  Follow the bike and pedestrian path south from the crosswalk to where it passes between the largest stormwater retention pond on the west and Nose Creek on the east.

Along Nose Creek there are several cutbanks exposing the Balzac till as well as overlying glaciolactustrine sediments and underlying sandstone bedrock. Note that the till is not present everywhere.
